Shockingly Fresh is a trusted and expert CEA partner which through the development of Controlled Environment Agriculture are improving food quality, hygiene and security, whilst reducing our carbon footprint.

Shockingly Fresh is aware that its activities impact the environment and aim to protect the environment and improve its environmental performance by:

• Minimising water waste by providing on site reservoirs and using a closed nutrition loop feed for all crops.

• Minimise pollutants and emissions through the selection and use of environmentally conscious HGV fleet for transportation of crops and produce where possible.

• Actively promoting recycling and safe disposal of materials for both construction and decommissioning of all sites including internally, with customers and suppliers.  

• Source environmentally efficient and sensitive methods of heat intake to the sites, only using mains gas where all other measures are not feasible.

• Providing electric car charging points at all sites.

• To adhere to all the relevant environmental legislation to the company.

• As sites progress Shockingly Fresh will measure the impact functioning sites have on the environment and set targets for continued improvement where possible.

• Monitor energy and water consumption to ensure the company’s profile assumptions are accurate and explore how continuous improvements can be made for current and future projects.

• Remaining in compliance of local environmental and ecological preservation requirements.

• Source suppliers with similar environmental principles as held by Shockingly Fresh.

• Continually improving the company’s environmental management system and training staff in environmental efficiency where necessary.

• Reduce volume of waste produced by construction, running and decommissioning of sites by considering purchasing decisions, and reuse or recycle materials where possible.

• Utilise recycling facilities available to recycle paper, plastic, metals, batteries, and waste electrical items, including utilising available recycling facilities at home whilst homeworking.

Shockingly Fresh will ensure the environmental commitments and performance is available for suppliers, employees, customers and stakeholders in order that they can achieve these objectives.

This policy and the objectives within will be annually reviewed as part of the business planning process, including the Shockingly Fresh Board and Senior Management.
