Providing access to innovative growing
Our approach brings down the barriers to investment in CEA solutions. From finance to site development, construction and commissioning we have developed a blueprint that brings CEA to the mainstream market.
Shockingly Fresh is a CEA development platform focused on facilitating investment in farming technologies and practices that serve to improve food security, reduce carbon emissions and address the challenges of a changing climate.
We do this by providing a means for growers and retailers to offer sustainable, affordable high-quality produce for the mass market. In tandem, we provide investors bankable robust opportunities to deploy capital in low carbon agriculture at attractive rates of return.
Providing landowners with attractive development opportunities:
A proven track record of maintaining strong relationships with landowners and maintaining positive relationships with local councils to ensure sites selected for development make it through planning and deliver landowners attractive long term income generating opportunities.
Our approach to technology
Shockingly Fresh has extensive experience in evaluating CEA technology and is continuously engaging with technology providers to ensure our sites offer best in class crop production.
Shockingly Fresh has identified market-leading CEA technology and has successfully deployed it at commercial scale.
Choosing the right site
A careful evaluation, by which we consider, location, services, orientation, ecology, and immediate environment we propose to develop. The main driver for all points considered is reducing our carbon footprint in the development of the site, and how operationally the production can be energy saving, and transit to the consumer is kept to a minimum.
Construction and Procurement
Creating a positive ecological profile
Throughout the design phase we focus on how we can improve or contribute positively to the existing ecological profile. We work closely with ecologists, environmentalists, arboriculturists, and landscape specialists throughout the construction phases. We strive to create and nurture new and existing wildlife habitats; we also adopt new planting schemes to introduce indigenous and ‘red listed’ trees and shrubs to naturalise the new development.
Low carbon footprint
The structures, mechanical and fabrics are scrutinised, to ensure they work in economic synergy, energy efficient systems are introduced, contributing to our low carbon footprint in a positive and economically productive way.
Our procurement strategy is always focussed on local provenance initially, for materials and resource to deliver, and only when that procurement route is exhausted, our net would be cast further.
Our work does not finish at the commissioning phase, we monitor our energy and water consumption to ensure our business profile assumptions are accurate and explore how we can continuously improve the outcomes for current and future projects.
Our focus is not just on the physical structure, post construction we will continue to monitor the environmental impact, working closely with our teams of ecologists and environmentalists to monitor the improvements.
Investment and funding
Leveraging our access to equity and debt providers along with our experience in project development to facilitate significant investment in Controlled Environment Agriculture.
